Great Movie Ride, Ellen's Energy Adventure closing in August for major transformation

The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios and Ellen's Energy Adventure at Epcot in Disney World will close Aug. 13, 2017 to make way for new attractions, Disney announced.

Just days ago art D23 Expo 2017, Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts announced 19 major changes coming to Disney World, including new rides and attractions. And it looks like work will start inn August on two of those rides.

The Great Movie Ride will close to make way for the first-ever attraction centered around Mickey Mouse. This new ride called Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, will take guests on a journey inside the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts. Disney is inventing new technology to change the "flat word of a colorful cartoon short into a dimensional display of amazingness" with no glasses required.

In this attraction guests will step through the movie screen and join Mickey and his friends. Think of it as the reverse of the Mickey Mouse short "Get a Horse." In that cartoon Mickey is thrown out of the movie in to the real world. Here, the guests will be thrust into the Mickey Mouse movie.

Ellen's Energy Adventure is closing to make way for the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride. There is not a a lot of information concerning the attraction. What is linking Guardians and Epcot. Well, a photo of course of the young Peter Quill visiting Epcot (see below).
