Rachel Talise, from Panorama City, Calif., developed paralysis in August 2014 from the waist down and in her hands, the result of Guillain– Barré syndrome. The rare disorder attacks the immune system, targeting the nervous system.
After spending three months of physical and occupational therapy at a rehabilitation facility, Talise regained mobility and learned to walk again. The Doctor Strange 10K on Nov. 12, 2016 will be her first race in two years.
More than 25,000 runners will participate in the weekend of racing.
