Disney World prepared to reopen Saturday

Walt Disney World has announced its plans to re-open its theme parks and water parks on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, a little earlier than usual.

The parks closed down Thursday night and all day Friday as Hurricane Matthew battered the state.

This was the fourth time Disney World closed for a hurricane. Disney World has closed three previous times: Sept. 15, 1999, for Hurricane Floyd; Sept. 4-5, 2004, for Hurricane Frances; and Sept. 26, 2004 for Hurricane Jeanne.

On Saturday, the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios will open at 8 a.m.

Animal Kingdom Park will open for Extra Magic Hours at 7 a.m. for resort guests only.

EPCOT will open at 8 a.m., which include Future World and Frozen Ever After in Norway. The remainder of World Showcase will open at 11 a.m.

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon will each open at 10 a.m.

Disney Spring will have its normal operating hours starting at 10 a.m.
